A Randomized Controlled Trial
This study is not currently enrolling. If you are interested in taking part in a mindfulness program for young adults, we encourage you fill out a contact form to see if you qualify for our Phase III MB-College randomized control trial.
Mindfulness-Based College is a 9-week program that includes free training in mindfulness meditation and mindful movements, as well as directing mindfulness—based skills towards enhancing diet, physical activity, sleep, stress recovery, cognitive performance, and social relationships. The course consists of nine weekly sessions that are 2.5 hours, an all-day retreat, as well as online assessments completed before and after the mindfulness program (three assessments in total).
MB-College is a research study run by Brown University and Rhode Island College (RIC). Participants will receive $50 gift cards for each online follow up assessment completed (i.e. at 3 months and 6 months follow up) as well as a third gift card if all three research assessments are completed by the end of the study, up to $150 in total. To be eligible, you must be a RIC student aged 18-34 y.o., and not have a current regular mindfulness meditation practice. This is a randomized controlled trial, so you will be offered the mindfulness training either this upcoming semester, or during the next available class, depending on which group you are randomly assigned to. |

This study takes place on the main campus of Rhode Island College in Providence, RI.
The next MBC@RIC class will be held on Tuesday afternoons (4:00-6:30pm) starting up February 12th, 2020 and running for 9-weeks. Enrollment for this program will close on February 7th.
Participants have the opportunity to learn mindfulness meditation, mindful movement, as well as applying mindful skills training to improve participants diet, physical activity, sleep, stress recovery, cognitive performance, and social relationships
The purpose of the research study is to see whether the Mindfulness-Based College intervention increases the positive health behaviors of participants using mindfulness base practices.
The program consists of 9 weekly sessions that are 2.5 hours and an all-day weekend retreat. Research participation includes three online health assessments completed at baseline, 3 months and 6 months follow up. Participants will receive $50 gift cards for each online follow up assessment completed (i.e. at 3 months and 6 months follow up) as well as a third gift card if all three research assessments are completed by the end of the study, up to $150 in total.
To be eligible, you must be 18-34 years old, enrolled at Rhode Island College, and not have a current regular mindfulness meditation practice. This is a randomized controlled trial, so if eligible, you will be offered the mindfulness training either this semester, or during the next available class, depending on which group you are assigned to (i.e., Intervention vs. Wait-list Control).
